The Poppy Wall of Honor was set up Memorial Day weekend on the National Mall in Washington, DC, in the shadow of the Washington Monument and directly next to the Vietnam Memorial.
The 132′ wall, was filled with one poppy for every US service member killed in action since WW1 – over 600 thousand poppies. The wall featured an educational wall on the back, designed to inform visitors of the symbolic nature of the poppy flower and statistics about each war. The Poppy Wall of Honor was featured on a 156′ deck and was built over a 24-hour period.
